When you start any new business venture you will always have questions and concerns. Creating your new candle brand can be a bit overwhelming to begin with. Like every industry, we often find that our customers start their journey with some misconceptions. Therefore, we decided to tackle a few of the myths about starting your own candle company with a private label manufacturer.
Myth 1. Minimum Orders Quantities Are Very High
Starting any sort of business is already stressful, but concerns about keeping too much stock in storage can further add to your worries. However, when you use a local private label manufacturer, minimum orders tend to be much lower than manufacturers further a field.
For example, at Bespoke Candles our minimum orders are only a few hundred units. This means you won’t have to hire a full warehouse to store thousands of candles when you are just starting out.
Myth 2. Control Over Product Design Is Limited
This myth probably arises from the confusion that surrounds the terms ‘private-label’ and ‘white-label’.
White label is where a business receives a large batch of products and they simply stick their own label to the product. Adding a label is the only customisation that can be made to the product.
Private label means that the product is made especially for the business. All design decisions are made by the business. Bespoke Candles is a private label company. That means that every detail from fragrance to wax choice, container to package is all up to you. You can really put your own spin on your product.
Myth 3. Legal Regulations For Candles Are Very Complicated
This is part myth, part truth. A lot of people are intimidated by the amount of regulation and legal requirements that a candle companies must adhere to. This myth is partially true, there are a lot of legal requirements and they can be confusing at first.
However, using an experienced private label manufacturer makes these tasks much less daunting. We’ve been doing this for a very long time and we really know the regulations. We can advise you on all the paperwork you need to fill out and the warnings and text you need to put on your packaging. From UFIs to CLPs, from IFRAs to PCNs we know all the acronyms. We will be happy to help you wade through any technical jargon so you can avoid the stress!
Myth 4. Your Fragrance Choices Are Limited
If you aren’t making your candles for yourself your fragrance choices must be limited? This one is definitely false. When you work with a quality private label manufacturer you should be offered lots of options.
In-house, we have over 120 scents. We can also order in other fragrances if you like something we don’t have. However, if you have something very specific in mind we can even send off a sample of your favourite perfume, soap or an existing candle to get the fragrance matched. Your possibilities are virtually limitless.
Myth 5. It Is Expensive To Use A Private Label Manufacturer
Using a private label manufacturer is actually a great way to set up a quality business on a shoestring budget. You don’t have to pay for any expensive manufacturing machinery, premises, staff training or storage for your raw materials. In fact there are very few setup costs at all. This means you can get up and running quickly and without having to put up a large chunk of cash. At Bespoke Candles, we have design options for a range of budgets.
